S Bang Pipes
S Bang is known for high quality briar pipes. Bang himself did not make many pipes, but was an excellent businessman who hired Per Hansen and Ulf Noltensmeier to make the pipes instead. Both pipe makers had experience from working with other famous Danish pipe makers. They have their own separate style when they carve pipes, and their initials are stamped on every pipe, so the buyer can tell who has been making it.

Both pipe makers had experience from working with other famous Danish pipe makers. They have their own separate style when they carve pipes, and their initials are stamped on every pipe, so the buyer can tell who has been making it.
Furthermore, the pipes are stamped with a number that helps identify the pipe. For example, 1827 with the stamp UN, would tell you that it was the 27th pipe made by Ulf Noltensmeier in 2018.
One thing the two pipe makers do have in common, is the way the stems are made. They are all hand-cut and engineered in the same way. Per Hansen and Ulf Noltensmeier took over the company in 1984, and kept the name “S. Bang”.
Pipes going down in history
As of 2019, Per Hansen and Ulf Noltensmeier announced their collective retirement after making pipes under the name of S Bang Pipes for more than 50 years.
From their Copenhagen workshop, the two pipe makers have made exquisite and beautiful pipes for decades, and the pipes have been celebrated worldwide for their high quality and fine testament to craftsmanship.
