His design characteristics are; classic in shape and with his own patented integrated tap and insert for the best cleaning facilities and smoke flow.

Arne Urup is using old techniques which can be seen in the quality of the finished pipes. Arne is famous for "Lyre shaped" pipes and he has made plenty of them. However, Arne is now concentrating on making only a limited production of the most beautiful and best shapes. As a symbol, many of his pipes are fitted with his own handmade sterling silver rings and mounted with stems of genuine amber that he carefully selects from pieces of natural amber.

Meerschaum pipes

Meerschaum consists of the mineral sepiolite and is sometimes found floating on the black sea — which is why it is called meerschaum, that is the German word for sea foam. The smoke from a meerschaum pipe is described as dry, cool and flavourful, and is therefore cherished as one of the greatest materials for pipe making. Arne Urup Meerschaum pipes will, because of their materialistic origin, change colour when used and in the aging process. This makes the pipes even more characteristic and unique. For a collector, Arne Urup Meerschaum pipes are a must have, both as brand-new pipes and as estate pipes, where the history and lineage of the pipe becomes apparent in the material itself.
